The Glastonbury Arrows - 2017 CCBL Champions

The Glastonbury Arrows edged the Manchester Mavericks 4 - 2 in 10 innings to capture the 2017 CCBL Championship last night at Rotary Field in South Windsor.

After winning Game 1 of the best of 3 series on Monday night in Glastonbury, the Arrows trailed 2 - 0 in Game 2 when it was suspended by rain on Tuesday night in South Windsor.  Inclement weather forced further postponements on Wednesday and Thursday nights, but Game 2 finally resumed Friday night.

Zac Harrington (Castleton St.) pitched 4+ innings of relief to get the win, and Pete Delalio (Wesleyan) recorded the last 4 outs for the save.

Trailing 2-0, the Arrows scored 2 runs in the top of the seventh on consecutive RBI singles by Justin Perez (Franklin Pierce) and Arno Utegg (Wesleyan).

In the top of the tenth, Glastonbury broke the tie when leadoff hitter Brandon Russo (Springfield College) and Ryan Bagdasarian (UCONN-AP) drove back to back RBI doubles to take the lead after pinch hitter Tyler Mulberry (Colby) started the rally with a single.  The Arrows held on to win the game, as Delalio retired the Mavericks in the bottom of the inning.
